Knit Aid

Knit Aid are excited to be celebrating Refugee Week 2016 this year in various events across London! See below for details and come and join us as we teach you to knit and increase awareness about the refugee crisis across Europe and the Middle East:

Sunday 12th June 2016
Papers Festival
Barbican, London

We are excited to be a part of the Papers festival at the Barbican, in partnership with The Worldwide Tribe and Architecture Foundation, for a day-long event celebrating the wonderful ways in which people and groups have responded to the refugee crisis.

Knit Aid will be in The Conservatory of the Barbican holding knitting workshops where you can learn to knit chunky squares which we will stitch into blankets for refugee families. The workshop is free (materials are provided and cannot be taken away but additional knitting materials can be purchased on the day). We will be selling our knit kits including our exclusive new knitting needles, and we'll be on hand to talk to you about the work we're doing. Book your tickets on the Papers Festival website and see you there!

Location: Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS
Time: 1pm – 10pm

Friday 17th June 2016
Redbridge Library, London

We'll be visiting Redbridge Library to talk about the work we've been doing in the past year since we started last summer and about the refugee crisis. We'll then be holding a workshop knitting squares to stitch into blankets for refugee families. You can bring your own materials or you can purchase a knit kit from us here. There are limited spaces for this event so book soon to reserve your spot!

Saturday 18th June 2016
All You Knit is Love Mass Knit-in

As part of Refugee Week 2016, and after our first Mass Knit-In was a great success in February, we're excited to announce that we are holding our second Mass Knit-in event! We are looking for knitters to help us knit as many squares as we can to create much-needed blankets for refugee families living in camps across Europe and the Middle East.

Show some love and join us for an afternoon of knitting solidarity and wool-based delights.

12pm – 3:00pm
